Toyota RAV4 Service Manual: Removal

  1. Drain engine coolant (see page co-6)

  2. Disconnect cable from negative battery terminal

Caution:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

  1. Remove air cleaner cap (see page es-411)

  2. Remove air cleaner case (see page es-429)

  3. Remove engine coolant temperature sensor

  2. Using sst, remove the sensor and gasket.
