Inspection procedure

  1. Check for dtc

  1. Turn the ignition switch on.
  2. Clear the dtcs (see page rs-249).

Hint

First clear dtcs stored in the occupant classification ecu and then in the center airbag sensor assembly.

  1. Turn the ignition switch off, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
  2. Turn the ignition switch on.
  3. Check the dtcs (see page rs-249).

Ok: dtc b1796 is not output.

Hint:

Dtcs other than dtc b1796 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

  1. Replace occupant classification ecu

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.
  2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
  3. Replace the occupant classification ecu (see page rs- 392).

Hint:

Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible.

  1. Perform zero point calibration

  1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds
  2. Connect the intelligent tester to the dlc3.
  3. Turn the ignition switch on.
  4. Using the intelligent tester, perform the zero point calibration (see page rs-241).
